Artist Statement
After recently losing 11 original paintings in a gallery fire, I took a year off to regroup and re-evaluate my commitment and direction. I have now completed six new acrylic paintings as of May 2021. The gallery owner is considering a comeback so things are looking up! My purpose for painting is not much different than any other artist – I have the need to express my world visually, starting with the blank canvas. I naturally detour down paths away from the mainstream and my art reflects that journey. I love incorporating full moons into tonalist and conceptual art works. Mathematical themes dominate another of my series, reflecting my engineering background. I am currently launching into science art, particularly astronomy and physics. Check out my gallery on this website.
Most of my favorite pieces exhibiting land and seascapes are tonal in nature. I have continued in this direction with a portion of my work. I enjoy intellectual art, providing the observer with the opportunity to put their own spin on its interpretation. Realism and modernism emphasized in some of my works give rise to multiple meanings, which can change depending on the mood of the observer. Like all art, the viewer relates to the image in very personal ways and as an artist I am open to their interpretations.
Overall, I like to believe my art is a positive statement about natural things, both known and unknown! Each of my website galleries is unique. Detailed Gallery Statements are available on each site.
